Part 1: Questions
1. What type of brush must be used when layer masking and clone stamping?
-A soft edge brush must be used when layer masking and clone stamping.
2. What key on the keyboard is pressed to select an area to be cloned when using the Clone Stamp tool?
-The option key is pressed to select an area to be cloned when using the clone stamp tool
3. Explain the difference between making a selection with the Lasso tool and creating a Path with the Pen tool.
-The Lasso tool is used to take a selection and copy and move that same selection to a different place on the picture. Also, for the lasso tool you make the shape yourself and it is a more general tool and not as articulate as the Path pen tool. The Path pen tool is used to make a more detailed selection and the worker has more control in whatever they are doing with the picture. It also helps you trace the exact shape.
4. What is the benefit of using a Layer Mask as opposed to using an Eraser?
-The benefit of using a Layer Mask as opposed to an eraser is that when you use a layer mask, you are only masking over the picture and you can take away the mask if need. When you use an eraser, you cannot always do that. The eraser takes away the actual picture and can sometimes be a destructive way of editing a photo.
5. What is "non-destructive" editing and why is it an important approach for a photographer using Photoshop?
-"non-destructive" editing is a form of editing where the original picture is not modified and change from its beginning state. It is an important approach for a photographer using photoshop because there are so many tools that can be used in photoshop that can modify and change a picture. They have to keep in mind that they have to keep the photo the same and only make a few changes that can better the quality of the photo.

6. Look through the photo blog American Suburb X and find a photograph that you think is successful. Copy the photo to your computer and post it on your blog. Answer the following questions.
-Why did this photo catch your eye? This photo caught my eye because I found it very interesting and different to see that there was a money on the back of motorcycle. The scene itself has an interesting look to it and really makes you think what the picture is about.
-Describe what the photo shows and is about. Be as detailed as possible. Imagine you are explaining it to someone that has never seen it. This photo shows an African American man on a motorcycle with a monkey behind him. The back round looks like the picture was taken in the daytime. There were a few people behind the man in the back round also. The people in the back round are also african american. The man on the motorcycle and the monkey are both looking at the camera with stern looks on their faces.
-Imagine you are one of the objects in the photograph. Describe the scene from your point of view. What happened before the photo? What happened immediately after? What's the temperature? What time of day is it? What smells are present? What is the atmosphere like? Are there noises? Do you feel safe or is there a chance of violence? Before the photo was taken, I was in the forest with my family and all of a sudden I was kidnapped by a middle aged african american man. He snatched me so fast that I didn't even have time to say goodbye to my family. Before I knew it, I was on the back of a motorcycle. It was a little bit chilly outside so I was given a jacket to keep warm. There was a camera man there and he kept taking pictures of me and I did not smile because I was so upset and confused. I did not know what was going on. After a while of being confused and uncomfortable, I was taken to a local zoo to be put on display.
